CHOPROP has concluded an umpteen number of deals within its residential and commercial sales, letting, and auctioneering divisions since its inception in 2007.

How it all began

What began as a garage from home business has now evolved into an international, multi-award-winning “House-Sold” brand in property. The founders, Yusuf and Shazia Essa, initially made their debut in real estate wanting to buy, sell, and let property as investors. What started as a Sunday afternoon house hunting hobby has become one of the largest BBBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowered) real estate groups in the country.

Yusuf Essa

Yusuf, popularly known as Choppee, is an entrepreneur who started his business career in the marketing field. Initially, Choppee was the brand manager at Kwality Biscuits for five years, after which he started his own business in the wholesale FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) market. In 2000, Yusuf launched a retail cash-and-carry business within the informal sector in the North West Province, which ran successfully for 11 years. Together with his spouse, Shazia Essa, they made their entry into the real estate market and CHOPROP was born. With CHOPROP’s fast-growing business becoming more prominent, Yusuf’s other business had to be sold to allow him to devote more attention to his real estate business career. CHOPROP’s numerous international awards and accolades are clear proof of Yusuf’s leadership skills and the driving force behind their successful business.
