About the cause: CHOC exists to serve and support the children, parents, families, and communities through their cancer journey to keep more than hope alive. CHOC is the only organisation in South Africa that provides comprehensive countrywide support for children with cancer, life-threatening blood disorders, and their families.

What is needed: Financial assistance or volunteer work.

Wollies Animal Project

Wollies Animal Project

About the cause: Wollies is an animal shelter that originally started out as a sterilisation project in 2003 and has since expanded into a safe haven that cares for over 1 000 homeless dogs and cats. Wollies is registered as a non-profit, pro-life organisation that does not receive any government funding. Every cat and dog remain in their care until they find their forever homes.

What is needed and how to help: Dog and cat food will always be a pressing necessity. Blankets, toys, dog and cat-related items you don’t use anymore.Volunteers to help around the shelter and give the fur kids some attention. Financial aid to cover veterinary bills is also very welcome.

Mohau Child and Youth Care Centre

Mohau Child and Youth Care Centre

About the cause: Mohau Child and Youth Care Centre provides care and support to orphaned, abused, abandoned, neglected, and terminally ill children and their families who are infected/ affected by HIV/AIDS. Mohau Centre provides temporary or permanent residential care and community-based social services to the children and families. Children are placed at the centre through court order.

What is needed and how to help: The biggest need remains financial donations for the ongoing running of the centre, day-to-day expenses such as salaries, insurance, petrol, motor vehicle expenses, repairs and maintenance etc. You can also sponsor a child’s expensive. If these options aren’t a possibility, items such as toiletries, cleaning equipment, food, stationery etc can be donated. Please contact Mohau for a list of their current needs.

SANBS – South African National Blood Service

About the cause: The mission of the South African National Blood Service is to provide all patients with sufficient, safe, quality blood products and medical services related to blood transfusion in an equitable, cost-effective manner.

What is needed and how to help: Blood donations. By donating a single pint of blood, you can save three people’s lives.

Siyakha Youth Foundation

About the cause: The Siyakha Youth Foundation envisions a youth that is equipped with principles that will ensure they become responsible South African citizens. Its mission is to feed, educate, and transform communities and it aims to eradicate the social ills that exist within the communities of Tshwane. The SYF currently serves the greater youth of Tshwane.
